This is a spoiler-light route for a first successful journey.
Start a new journey, learn the six-direction hex movement keys, and travel toward Britain. Use Enter or F to interact.
Visit the Quest Board, Armory, Healer, and Mage Guild. Accept an early combat quest and learn at least one spell if you can afford it.
Attributes improve through use. Fight to improve STR and END, explore for PER, cast spells for INT, trade and talk for CHA, and move or flee for AGI.
Seek Britain, Moonglow, Trinsic, and Vesper. The Pilgrimage of Virtue rewards broad exploration.
Dungeon floors preserve their state. Search for keys to open locked doors, collect treasure, and use stairs to descend. Save before long expeditions.
Camp on open ground when safe. Healing, supplies, potions, and sensible retreat are often more valuable than one extra battle.
Press S or click SAVE. The game also autosaves. Continue Journey restores the latest stored state.
During combat use 4 or DEFEND to reduce the next incoming strike and recover a small amount of AP. Use 5 or INSPECT to study the enemy without consuming a combat turn; it reveals HP, attack, defense, threat level, and tactical advice. Flee is now shortcut 6.
Press H or choose AWARDS to view persistent achievements. Exploration, quests, combat victories, wealth, and dungeon depth can unlock rewards.
Completing the final chapter marks Britannia Saved. Side quests, mapping, achievements, Codex completion, and dungeon exploration remain playable afterward.
Speak with each town's named NPC to hear local rumors. Completing quests for a town increases reputation from Stranger through Known and Trusted to Revered. Higher reputation reduces prices for local services.
After completing an ordinary town quest, return and speak with the settlement's NPCs. Reaching KNOWN reputation unlocks a second local contract: the Northern Watch in Britain, Lycaeum Reserves in Moonglow, Trial of the Road in Trinsic, or Below the Old Shaft in Vesper. Reputation also unlocks special local equipment and supply offers.
The main Britannia map fills the gameplay viewport. Short-click or tap a passable destination hex to plot a route. The Avatar moves deliberately one hex at a time. Each step completes before the next begins, and normal encounter checks run along the way. If combat begins, the remaining route is cancelled at that hex.
Map controls: short click/tap selects travel, drag pans, mouse wheel or the +/- controls zoom, CENTER recenters, and STOP cancels the current route. Keyboard hex movement remains available as a fallback.
Click or tap a world hex to travel. In dungeons, click or tap a visible floor hex to path toward it. Dungeon encounters open a Fight/Retreat popup and use the same full combat screen as overworld encounters.
Use the right-sidebar Audio and Speech buttons to toggle procedural sound and text-to-speech. Voice cycles through browser-installed voices; Read Info speaks the current location and objective.
