Tron's Empire — Tutorial

Tron's Empire is a single-player, turn-based hex strategy game. You command the cyan empire against one to four computer rivals on a world that wraps in every direction. This tutorial covers everything you need to start playing.

How to begin

When the game loads you see the start screen. Choose a Map Size (Small, Medium, Large, or Huge) and an Enemy Intelligence setting (Easy, Normal, Hard, or Mixed), then press Begin Campaign. Larger maps add more rival empires: one on Small up to four on Huge. You start bottom-of-mind with a single home city and one army.

Controls

Turn order

Each round you move first. When you press End Turn, every rival empire takes its turn in sequence — producing units, moving, and fighting — and then control returns to you and the turn counter advances. At the start of your turn, each of your cities makes progress toward its next unit and all your armies refresh their movement.

Movement

Every army has a pool of movement points each turn. Terrain costs vary: plains and desert cost 1, forest costs 2, and mountains cost 3. Water is impassable. Riders have the most movement, Legions the least. Because the world wraps, an army that walks off one edge reappears on the opposite edge — selecting an army recenters the view so you can always see its options.

City production

Click any city you own to choose what it builds:

A small progress bar under each of your cities shows how close the next unit is. A new unit appears on the city when it is ready, provided the city tile is empty.

Combat

Move an army into an enemy-occupied hex or an unowned city to attack it. Only one unit occupies a hex at a time. A battle popup shows the two combatants, the attacker's win chance, and the result. The odds depend on the attacking and defending unit types, the defender's terrain, and whether the defender sits in a city (cities add defense). Win, and your army takes the hex — capturing the city if one is there. Lose, and your army is destroyed. Attacking ends that army's turn. You can click the popup to continue or press the button to skip remaining battles.

Tip: Gray cities are unclaimed and undefended — grab them early with fast Riders before a rival does. A city defended by a Legion is very hard to take head-on.

Winning conditions

You win when every rival empire has been eliminated — that is, no rival holds any city or army anywhere on the map.

Losing conditions

You lose if your empire is wiped out: your last city is captured and your last army destroyed.

Saving and restarting

Tron's Empire is a single-session game and does not save progress between sessions. To start over at any time, press New Game / Settings, pick a new map size and difficulty, and begin a fresh campaign. Reloading the page in the portal also starts a new game.
