SolarQuest — How to Play
How to begin
On the launch screen, name each seat and set it to Human, AI, or Not Playing
(2–4 commanders). Choose whether to enable the optional laser rule, then press
Blast Off. Every ship starts on Earth with $1,995, a full 25-hydron tank and 3 spare
fuel stations.
Controls
- Roll Dice — take your movement roll for the turn.
- The action list under Mission Control shows only the moves you can currently make,
each with a one-line explanation (buy, refuel, place station, Federation services, fire laser, end turn).
- Map: scroll or pinch to zoom, drag to pan. Use the on-board buttons to fit the whole
board (
⚲) or re-center on your ship (🚀).
- Click any planet, moon, dock, lab or station to inspect its deed, rent table and fuel price.
Turn order
Commanders take turns in seat order. Rolling doubles draws a Red Shift card instead of
moving your ship. Play continues until one commander remains.
Movement & fuel
- You travel the number of spaces you roll along the flight path. At branch points you choose which way to go.
- Leaving a planet or moon burns one hydron of fuel per pip rolled. Leaving open space, docks,
labs and stations is free.
- If you lack the fuel to break orbit, your ship is stranded for the turn — and pays rent again if
it sits on a rival's world. Stranded with no way to refuel means the ship is lost.
- Refuel at Earth ($25/hydron, free on landing), Space Docks, or any fuel station.
Federation Stations pay cash but sell no fuel.
Buying, rent & building
- Land on an unclaimed deed to buy it at the printed price.
- Rent climbs with every deed the owner holds in that planetary system — owning a full system is
extremely lucrative.
- Place spare fuel stations on planets/moons you own to sell fuel to visitors and refuel yourself.
- At Federation Stations you can buy or sell spare fuel stations and sell deeds back to the League.
Winning & losing
- Win: be the last commander still flying.
- Lose: go bankrupt with nothing left to sell, or become permanently stranded without fuel.
