PANZER BLITZ
TRONSOFT GAMES · QUICK TUTORIAL
Welcome, commander. This five-minute tutorial covers everything you need to
fight your first battle. For the full rules, see the in-game Help panel
or docs/manual.pdf.
The goal
Each situation sets its own victory condition, shown in the setup dialog
and tracked live in the side panel. There are six kinds:
- Points — score for each enemy platoon destroyed. Some situations add
bonuses for advancing deep, for units exited off a map edge, or for units
standing on a particular board at the end.
- Capture a town — the attacker must occupy every hex of the
objective town (outlined in gold) with no defender left in it.
- Exit — drive a required number of units off a named map edge. Select
a unit standing on that edge and press Exit Map.
- Reach a board — get a required number of units onto a far board.
- Board majority — hold more units than the enemy on the central board
when time runs out.
- Command posts — in raid situations a destroyed enemy CP is worth many
points, and the defender scores for keeping each one alive.
You lose if the opposing side meets its condition, or simply out-scores
you when the turn limit is reached. Play continues until the turn limit or until
one side achieves an instant win (clearing the objective town, or reaching its
exit quota).
Your turn, step by step
1. Pick a unit. Click one of your counters (it has a bright
border). Its full stats appear in the side panel.
2. Move or fire. Each unit does one per turn.
• Move — blue hexes show where it can go. Click one.
• Fire — red hexes show what it can hit. Click a target.
3. Concentrate. When you fire, every eligible unit
that can see and reach the target joins in. Line up several guns on the same hex
before you shoot to raise the odds.
4. End your turn. Press END TURN. The AI moves, then
control returns to you.
Reading a shot
Firing compares your total attack strength to the target's defense to get the
odds (e.g. 3:1). Cover shifts the odds toward the defender.
A die is rolled: — nothing, D dispersed (flipped, recovers next
turn), X eliminated. Hit a dispersed unit again and it's destroyed.
Use the right weapon: armor-piercing (AP) kills tanks, high-explosive
(HE) kills infantry and guns. Infantry can't hurt heavy armor — don't waste the shot.
Terrain at a glance
Clear — fast, no cover
Woods — slow, cover, blocks sight
Town — strong cover
Hill — high ground, sees far
River — impassable
Ford / Bridge — crossings
Four tips to win your first game
• Start with a Quick Battle — the historical situations are large and
deliberately lopsided.
• Defenders: hold cover and high ground and make the enemy come to your guns;
stalling past the turn limit is a win.
• Attackers: mass fire to crack one hex, then move in — don't attack piecemeal.
• In exit and breakthrough situations it's a race, not a brawl: load infantry into
trucks, pick the lightly held lanes, and keep moving.
