ECLIPSE — ICV MERIDIAN STAR
Quick-Start Tutorial v1.8.1
A tactical exploration and survival mission aboard the ICV Meridian Star.
1. Start a Mission
Choose New Mission or Continue Mission. Select a difficulty before starting. Story gives you more time and reduced danger; Nightmare is the most demanding configuration.
2. Move Through the Ship
Select an adjacent section on the ship schematic to move. You cannot jump across disconnected sections. Visited rooms are recorded and breadcrumbs can show your route.
On desktop, use the map with mouse or pen. The map also supports pointer/touch panning. A long press can set a waypoint on a discovered section.
3. Use the Tactical Route Planner
Right-click an explored section, or use the touch long-press gesture, to set a waypoint. The planner calculates the shortest known route through explored sections. The next navigation step and remaining route distance appear in Mission Intel.
4. Manage Action Points
Most important actions consume AP. Movement, combat, scanning, repairs, reloading, and other operations must be balanced against the reactor countdown and rising threat.
5. Use the Advanced Sensor Suite
- Passive Scan: low-impact reconnaissance.
- Bio Scan: identifies possible biological contacts without fully revealing uncertain information.
- Tactical Scan: provides stronger confirmation, including room classification and detected hazards.
Scanning costs AP and can increase noise. Sensor intelligence remains available after saving and resuming the mission.
6. Combat
Use SHOOT, MELEE, EVADE, RELOAD, and USE ITEM according to the situation. Ranged attacks can produce critical hits. Watch ammunition, integrity, oxygen, and threat.
The game tracks shots, hits, critical hits, damage, and retreats for the final mission debrief.
7. Mission Intel and Captain's Log
Mission Intel summarizes your current score, projected rank, exploration, achievements, and route information. The Captain's Log records important mission events so you can reconstruct what happened during a long run.
8. Map Filters
Use map filters to focus on All, Objectives, Hostiles, Visited, or Sensor information. Breadcrumbs and route highlighting can be toggled when you need a cleaner tactical view.
9. Save and Resume
The game supports local autosave and manual save/resume. Your exploration, sensor intelligence, waypoint, achievements, and mission statistics are preserved.
10. Accessibility
Use LARGE UI, HIGH CONTRAST, and REDUCE MOTION to adjust the interface. Preferences persist locally. The game also respects the browser's reduced-motion preference.
11. Mission Debrief
At the end of the mission, review your score and rank along with exploration, accuracy, damage, sensor contacts, ship events, achievements, shots, hits, critical hits, and retreats. Try to improve your rank on the next run.
Objective: survive the Meridian Star, complete the mission objectives, and get out before the reactor countdown reaches zero.
