CROWNFALL

How to play — a five-minute tutorial

How to begin

Launch the game from the Tronsoft Games library. You command House Aurelian (gold), starting in the north of the Sundered Realm. Three rival houses — Sethys (blue), Morvenna (green), and Corvane (red) — are controlled by the computer. The throne at Kingscrown, in the center of the map, is empty and unclaimed.

Turn order

  1. Your turn begins: income is collected automatically and your provinces refresh.
  2. You act freely — recruit, march, one council decree, and any diplomacy.
  3. You press End Turn.
  4. Each AI house takes its turn in sequence.
  5. Play returns to you and the next round begins.

Movement

Each province may take one action per turn — either recruit or march. Marching into your own province reinforces it. Marching into a neutral or enemy province is an attack. Levies march first; knights join only when you send a large host. A freshly recruited unit cannot march the same turn.

Combat & sieges

Battles resolve on total power (levy = 1, knight = 2.4), with the defender gaining a bonus from terrain and walls. Win and you capture the province; lose and your attacking force is destroyed.

Walls (▲, level 0–3) add defense. You usually can't storm a strong fortress in one blow — but a large failed assault still breaches a wall level. Keep attacking to grind the walls down; a truly overwhelming assault storms the seat and casts the walls down at once. Build your own walls with the Council's Build Walls decree.

Winning

Losing

You lose if your house is wiped out — every province taken from you — or if a rival house meets a victory condition first.
