John Carter returns to Barsoom at the bottom of its own afterlife. Every Barsoomian who grows old or tired takes a boat down the river Iss to the Valley Dor, and nobody has ever come back to say what is there. It is a walled meadow that eats the pilgrims, with a priesthood behind a mile of gold, a buried ocean beneath them, and at the bottom of the whole arrangement an old woman on a chair whom nobody is permitted to look at. A parser adventure in twenty rooms across five regions, adapted from the 1913 novel by Edgar Rice Burroughs.
