What’s new in Empire Builder v2.1.2
Version 2.1.2 - Documentation and presentation pass. The rulebook is regenerated from the game's own constants and now covers the operating desk, the rival operating styles, the trackage-rights economy and the Operations Center; it had been stamped Version 1.0.0 and described none of them. Store description and README updated to match. Fullscreen is now implemented behind the Full button and Shift+F, so the manifest's fullscreen declaration is supported by code rather than merely asserted. The in-game standing orders no longer describe a running phase followed by a building phase, which stopped being true in 2.0.0's predecessor. The release version is shown in the standing orders. Fixed: the Operations Center repeated the trackage-rights notice once per rival, crowding out the terminal warnings; the shipped screenshots were captured before the final 2.1.1 layout fix and showed a masthead that the release does not produce. Version 2.1.1 - Competitive intelligence rebuilt against the running game: the Operations Center now shows a Path to Victory reading major terminals and treasury against the charter conditions, and a per-rival threat assessment drawn from company value, terminals held, network size and trackage-rights payments. The previous release's intelligence overlay read fields the engine does not publish, so it never displayed data and appended itself inside the Operations button, covering part of the map; it has been removed. The Network Expansion Planner now costs every corridor before simulating a shortlist and no longer rebuilds the same reachability field once per producing city, so it answers in about a quarter of the time with the same recommendation. Treasury fit now measures a corridor against the season's construction budget rather than the cash pile alone. Fixed: the first masthead readout collapsed and printed over its neighbour; the operations card was clipped by the dialogue that held it; the version badge covered the first control on the action bar. Version 2.0.0 - Competitive Railroad Companies: rival railroads now use distinct corporate strategies; company standings rank operating value; company cards expose cash, locomotive, location, network, freight and access-fee performance; shared-track payments are tracked as access income and expense; AI turns produce concise rival activity reports; and the Railroad Operations Center adds competitive intelligence for every opponent. Existing Freight Advisor, Trip Planner, Expansion Planner, and Operations Center remain available and player-controlled. Version 1.9.0 - Added Railroad Operations Center: consolidates the existing freight, trip, and expansion planning tools into one live operating dashboard; shows locomotive, location, treasury, cargo, movement, construction budget, owned track, cities, major terminals, deliveries, freight income, operating notices, and a context-sensitive Next Best Action; provides quick links back to the train and all planning tools without auto-executing strategy. Version 1.8.0 - Added Network Expansion Planner: ranks strategic rail extensions by construction cost, current-contract improvement, future catalogue routes unlocked, route/build savings, major-terminal value, and treasury fit; highlights the recommended corridor and compares alternatives without laying track automatically. Version 1.7.0 - Added Multi-Contract Trip Planner: evaluates two- and three-contract freight circuits, combines construction, respects locomotive capacity, calculates total revenue/net/distance/seasons, displays numbered pickup/delivery stops, compares against the best single contract, and offers alternatives without auto-executing actions. Version 1.6.0 - Added Turn Strategy Advisor: analyzes the full order book, ranks freight opportunities, recommends build/run/upgrade priorities, highlights the best route on the map, shows a step-by-step season plan, and offers alternative contracts without auto-executing actions. Version 1.5.0 - Added Freight Advisor route planning for every demand: best production city, proposed construction, freight path, payment, build cost, projected net, movement, owned/new track counts, and map overlays. Version 1.4.0 - A season is now one turn in which running and building may be done in any order, with a mode toggle deciding what a click does; plus a movement gauge, a charter readout, a legend, and three standards of computer opposition. Version 1.3.2 - Fixed: the map canvas overhung its frame and swallowed clicks meant for the buttons. Version 1.3.1 - The map returns to its original terrain colouring. Version 1.3.0 - Survey-plate chrome and a freight-sourcing display. Version 1.2.1 - The map was rendered upside down and is corrected. Version 1.2.0 - Chart redrawn in a plain map style. Version 1.1.1 - The real shoreline traced over the map. Version 1.1.0 - Economy aligned to the classic crayon-rail constants. Version 1.0.1 - Real boundaries drawn on the map. Version 1.0.0 - First release under this title.
