The Lost Admiral
A turn-based naval strategy game fought down a narrow channel of harbours. Buy a fleet against a points purse, then spend a season taking and holding anchorages: every harbour you hold pays its value into your score at the end of every turn, so a harbour taken early is worth many times the same harbour taken late. Nine ship classes, fog of war, minefields, landing parties and a machine admiral with four tempers and four levels of skill, on a hex chart generated fresh for every command and reflected through its own centre so both fleets face identical ground.
